Ode to You, Regis Philbin

At 80 years old, Regis Philbin retires.

This week has been bitter sweet for me. I love watching Regis, and for those who don't get my obsession, he is just the funniest, little old man (Next to my Poppy). He is sarcastic, and witty, and I wish I knew him personally.

This week he has been on multiple interviews and TV segments. I've been loving all his extra face time, but today was the last of hosting his morning show, Live with Regis and Kelly. For now, the show will be renamed Live with Kelly. No co-host has been announced. I know there has been buzz about Jerry Seinfeld hosting, but from what I gather...he is JUST the first guest host. Thank God. I am not sure how I feel about him. But, to be fair, I probably won't be happy with anyone they choose.
How can you NOT love this face? Nice teeth, I might add. Not sure if they are real or not.

Regis wrote a book, "How I Got This Way." I will for sure be purchasing that puppy (as soon as my bank account fills back up, just paid my first school loan today...D-Press-Ing).

Any who...today's final episode was extremely sad. I am currently sitting on my couch with tissues and trying to calm myself down. I am 100% not joking when I tell you that I was crying 3 minutes into the show. My lip was quivering, and still is. I was gasping for breath in  between tears streaming down my face. What is wrong with me? If you didn't have the opportunity to see the show, they did a video montage with the song "Smile" playing in the background (I will never be able to listen to that song again without crying). They also had a performance by RENT. Can you say tear jerker?

I am not crazy, and I am a little embarrassed by the amount of tears shed today, but it was extremely sad, and I will miss Regis Philbin very, very, very, much. I don't know what I will do without you.

Here's to you Reeg!

Wear This, Not That, Wednesday

Can you say shoulder pads?

Or fringe?

Or HUGE bow?

While we were growing up, my sister and I were dressed alike. Almost always. I love my Mom for always giving us the best. We were always decked from head to toe. This picture is no exception. I can't say I would ever pick this sweater out for myself, but it sure does make for a good memory. I must say, fringe is back, as well as shoulder pads..but not this exact sweater. Where would one even find a sweater this elaborate?

Before I get in trouble by my Mom for "insulting her taste," I just want to make it clear that it might have been cute back then, not today.

Always remember, less is more.

Mark Your Calendars

Things are looking up- well sort of.

Let's face is, not every day is great, and I'll speak for the group when I say, sometimes we need something to look forward to to get through the god forsaken week. I am definitely looking forward to a few upcoming dates/events.

Next Thursday...THANKSGIVING! This is my all time favorite holiday. I mean who doesn't look forward to a day devoted to food? That same day I am probably going to run in the Turkey Trot- the 5k race I am supposedly "training" for. I mean, I did okay last year. Okay might be a stretch. I did finish in about 33 minutes, but as I tripped cross the finish line my face was as red as a cherry and I was breathing like I just finished a pack of Newport's. I truthfully try to like running, but it just hasn't made my list of favs. I will admit I feel good after running, and if I run on Thanksgiving I won't feel guilty for eating 2 pieces of pie.

Besides next Thursday, I am excited for my second all time favorite holiday...BLACK FRIDAY!!! Don't knock it till you try it, folks! If you like chaos and insane people watching, venture out during the wee hours of next Friday morning. If you think Wal Mart is crazy on a Saturday- try Black Friday. Last year a woman punched another woman in her face over a deal on a TV. Wal Martians are nuts!

Now, I think I may have gotten a little of track, but what I am trying to say is, if you need a pick-me-up to get you through the week, find something that makes you happy! If there isn't an important event coming up, set a side a time/day where you can watch your favorite TV show. For instance, to get me through the rest of the week, on Wednesday nights I watch Modern Family. It makes me laugh and for that half an hour I forget about how boring and uneventful my life is. AND when I am not subbing, I watch Regis and Kelly- that way for an hour, I am happy about not working. (After this Friday I am not sure how I will get myself out of bed now that Regis will be retiring)

What's the point of my rant? Find something that makes you happy or else you will go insane!!!
